Also, be a Local!

Tayid Lighthouse

I used to hear this “Don’t be a TOURIST, be a TRAVELER.

I know I haven’t gone far out nor have an expertise in traveling.  But let me share with you what I’m trying to achieve.   Be BOTH. And in addition, Be a LOCAL.

Racuh a Payaman (Marlboro Country)

Be a Tourist, that you find everything amusing, whether it be a random local road sign, a sidewalk mural, tourist spots or museums. Things will be overwhelming and you will be grateful for each.  Take lots of photos and videos with you.  Who cares?  If that makes you happy, do it!

Be a Traveler, that you are always ready to try their food, immerse in their culture, and converse with people.  Be welcoming and enjoy everything that’s new to you.  A deep sense of appreciation will floor you and you will realize that these experiences will be with you wherever you will go.  You know that a part of you will always be there.

Be a Local. This is what I enjoy the most.  Have the feeling that everything you are experiencing is foreign but at the same time, it’s nothing new at all Learn the words and phrases they speak.  Use it in your conversations with your ‘co-locals’.  Though you will exert an effort to make it natural, it will all seem effortless. (Paradox, isn’t it?).  Be one with the people, the culture and the place; that all your heart will utter, ‘Welcome home. ‘

Much love, support, and respect. πŸ™‚

Your local, Ivatan πŸ˜‰

P.S. This was inspired by our Batanes trip two years ago (November 18 – 25, 2014).

Allow me to share with you some of the pictures we had in the paradise. πŸ˜‰

One of the most emphasized values of Ivatan, HONESTY.  These unmanned stores’ slogan is ‘Have Faith in Humanity’.  Trusting people to do the right thing and pay the right amount.  Wonderful, isn’t it?

    1. Thanks Alesia!!! Yeah! In every trip, let’s make the most of it! Who knows when you’ll be back again in that place or when you’ll see the beautiful souls you met, sooo carpe diem! The world has so much to offer and we were blessed to experience a bit of it. To more travels, learnings and things to be grateful for! 😊

P.S. I would love to see Italy one day! Would definitely prepare my to-do lists too! πŸ˜‰ Have a great day, always!
